Not only is the book filled to the brim with incredibly delicious and decadent Tennessee recipes, but there are amazing photos in there too. My favorite part, sorry Libby, is Gary Morris singing The Tennessee Waltz on her book trailer. He’s amazing. I just really believe any cookbook with a trailer that is this well put together, the cookbook has got to be amazing! For more about Libby visit Twirl and Taste. This book just got on my “gotta get it” list!

Over her career, Jo has written for many national, international and online publications.

Before becoming a writer Jo spent time as a waitress, shop assistant, credit controller, receptionist, tour guide and secretary to name a few. Luckily she came to her senses and started taking her writing seriously.

Since then she’s managed to convince editors and other members of the writing industry to work with her, gaining several awards along the way.

When she’s not writing articles, updating guides or adding to the word count of her books in progress, she’s researching social media news (one of her big passions), reading, getting fit with her Wii or shopping. That is of course when she’s not with her husband and busy being a mummy to their two young sons.

Jo defines what it means to be truely international. Her work with clients and editors in a wide range of countries has led to many happy clients across the globe.

She also designs websites, teaches writing through the internet, writer’s groups and online programs. An expert in the field of marketing, hundreds of internet articles as well as e-books and online programs thread through the internet in her name. Jan Verhoeff writes…because she breathes. Both activities serve as life-fuel for herself, her career and her personal life.

An e-book report suggests complete impartiality while a review indicates subjective opinion. This article contains a bit of both.

Burning Embers, Ms. Verhoeff’s latest e-book, deals with a reality-based story that grips you from the introductory paragraph through the last line. The title, Burning Embers, suggestive of a romantic bent, is anything but. “Burning Embers of fading sun glowed orange in the western sky…” Ms. Verhoeff takes this title from a peace-filled sunset to a fear-gripping metaphor in the depth of the plot.

The reader is grabbed into the life of a young mother with two baby girls, driving in an unreliable vehicle on a dark night in the middle of the country. Finishing out a vending route, with collection monies in her possession, she quickly realizes she is being followed by two men. Ms. Verhoeff’s ability to quickly engage the reader’s emotions will keep you turning pages with a rapid heartbeat.

“The headlights chased shadows. Darkness enveloped the vehicle driving into the night. No lights…anywhere…”

As a woman, a mother and grandmother, I was deeply engaged in the protagonist’s vulnerability as a woman and mother alone at night, in charge of her small babies, herself and her income for the week…in a bag on the seat beside her.

“Lord, you’re the only hope I have. Hold me steady on the road…”

Through miles of country back roads connected only by little towns, few and far between, Ms. Verhoeff reveals her own strength of character, determination and bravery through her brave and fear-filled young protagonist, Kate. “Thin reflections of mist closed in on her…Streetlights encased in the fog seemed to dim perceptibly, and she shivered.”

This story will leave you with a new respect for late night driving.

Treat yourself to the e-book Burning Embers, a must-read for anyone who enjoys the thrill of a well-written story. To get your copy, click on THIS LINK.

By Dianne E. Butts

I served on the board of directors of a small town pregnancy center when I lived in Lamar, Colorado, and during that time I witnessed the most amazing stories. Also during that time I witnessed an incredible amount of misunderstanding about what we were doing in the pregnancy center.

You’re just enabling those little girls to be promiscuous!

I won’t support that place – they refer people for abortion!

Oh my goodness. No we aren’t and no we didn’t. If only people knew what we were really doing, how we were helping. If only others could see how these people need help, need us…

And the idea was birthed…

If I could just gather some true stories from these wonderful pregnancy centers, then people could see what we’re doing. If I could give people a glimpse inside our walls, surely they would be as thrilled as I am about what what’s going on inside the center. Maybe they would support us. Maybe they would be inspired. Maybe they know someone who needs our help.

So I set about gathering stories. It took more than eight years, but Deliver Me: Hope, Help, & Healing through True Stories of Unplanned Pregnancy was just released April 12, 2011.

I found more than fifty stories by more than thirty gracious people who shared their stories with me and allowed me to share their stories with the world. Here are the chapter topics:

Chapter 1: Who Faces Unplanned Pregnancy?

Chapter 2: What About Her Family?

Chapter 3: When a Woman Considers Abortion

Chapter 4: Learning from Those Who Have Experienced Abortion

Chapter 5: For, By, and About Men

Chapter 6: Helping Her Keep Her Child

Chapter 7: When a Woman Gives Her Child for Adoption

Chapter 8: Who Are These People Who Help Women Find Options?

Chapter 9: Reaching Out, Helping People, and Preventing Unplanned Pregnancy

Included with these true stories are dozens of interesting statistics, practical help, and valuable resources.

Your favorite bookstore can order this book for you through Ingram Distributors. Also available on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and other online retailers. Cover price: $14.99 (236 pages from Dianne’s own Connections Press, 2011).

The Back Cover says:

She stares at the test strip, palms clammy, breathing uneven. She’s never felt more alone. Tears blur her vision. Panic edges in.

An unplanned pregnancy can leave emotional wounds that take years to heal. The options are many: abortion, adoption, keeping the child. The questions are even more: How? Why? Where can you go for help? What do you do?

Deliver Me: Hope, Help, & Healing through True Stories of Unplanned Pregnancy explores each of the choices and their after-effects, highlighting the most sensitive moments women and men in unplanned pregnancies face, and how it affects grandparents, friends, and other loved ones. You’ll find:

· More than 50 intriguing true stories

· Facts and statistics about unplanned pregnancy

· Practical help

· Valuable resources

Whether you’re a woman currently facing an unplanned pregnancy, a man whose partner is there, a friend or family member wanting to help, you’ll find hope in the stories of others who walked this road and faced the same decisions.

Is your pregnancy experience in your past? Regardless of what its outcome was, you’ll find kindness, compassion, and healing. You’ve dealt with the pain long enough. It’s time to discover your healing.

The memories come and go, mostly go these days, but still I remember the hot summer sun beating down and the peacefulness of a summer afternoon, winding through the mountains on my donkey or mule while I listened to the birds sing and the grass growing…

You may think you can’t really hear the grass grow, but I promise you, there were times when we heard it grow.

Those are the times of which Oris George writes.

Days of drifting clouds, boys minding their mothers, although some didn’t. Weeks of doing chores that never ended, and switches on their britches if they didn’t do what they were told. Years of watching, wondering and listening at the grate in the floor. Thinking that time should probably stand still, but it didn’t.

Those are the times you’ll find in his book “Along the Back Roads of Yesterday.”

You’ll remember the comfortable feeling you had when you heard your father come home from work.

You’ll remember the joy you felt when the chores were done and the rest of the day was yours to enjoy, at least until evening chore time came.

You’ll remember the energy that came with a hearty breakfast of fried eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy after you came in from doing chores in the snow.

You’ll remember walking along a dirt road kicking stones and grumbling that you’re the only kid who has to do chores, although you knew it wasn’t true.

You’ll remember lazy summer afternoons of sipping lemonade on the back porch while the locusts sang.

You’ll remember suspenders, bloomers, nickel ice cream and homemade cookies that came with cheek pinchers and relatives on Sunday afternoon.

You’ll remember the sound of wagon wheels, mule and horses hooves’ and the jingle of the trace chains.

You’ll remember train whistles in the distance and car horns that said words you’d understand like “ah-uuga.”

You’ll remember days of hard work.

You’ll remember the aroma of fresh baked bread.

You’ll remember days gone past and back roads that led to somewhere you wanted to go…
