You’ve probably downloaded .PDF files before, using a reader called ADOBE ACROBAT, to read them. If you’ve noticed, they’re unchangable with the usual word processor. You’d have to copy/past and reformat to get the information out and change it. These are the types of files most writers use to publish an ebook, and many publishing companies require .PDF format files for picture ready publication.
If you self publish online, you’ll be required to either send a .PDF file or upload it and allow their translator to make it a .PDF file. If you have a .PDF file maker, congratulations, you’re half way there. If not, go to http://cutepdf.com and get one for FREE (it’s the top link in the middle column) or a full version for less than $50.00. TIP: I use the FREE version and get everything I need.
Once you upload and install the program, you’ll have access to the use of it.
Create Document.
Write your book, article, or whatever it is you want to publish.Get it right, you want your document to look perfect. Check the page formatting to be sure your printed pages are picture perfect and ready to print. The editing should be complete, and all your art work should be readily in place.
DO NOT DOUBLE SPACE this if that is NOT what you want in the final project. For an ebook, consider enlarging the font to 14 and doing a 1 1/2 space format for easy reading online. Use high quality graphics!
Print Document.
Once it’s done and you’ve edited everything you want to edit. Click PRINT. In the little box at the top of the PRINT module, select Cute PDF. (Yes, Oris, I know I’m stepping on your toe by using the C word, but that’s what the name of the product is, so you’ll just have to deal.) Print your document to the Cute PDF file and save it to a file you’ll be able to locate.
Upload your file from .PDF format to online. (If you need information on this part of the project, you’ll have to keep reading my blogs – I’ll get to it in the next few days.)
You’re ready to publish your work. But first, before you do – PRINT OUT A COPY OF THE .PDF FILE and review the completed copy.

Hi Jan,
I’ve been wondering how I too can do a PDF eBook. Thanks so very much, I’m very grateful to have found you.

Cathy
